South Korea for 2 years has fed me well. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Korean food, but at the end of the day I’m still Italian and pizza is and will always be my favorite food. However, once I moved to Seoul I had to face the truth, which is Korean Pizza is totally different from what I was used to.
In this article I won’t be telling you if you should eat Korean pizza or not, and I won’t tell you Korean pizza is disgusting or anything similar, but I will just let you know some Italian pizza choices you can have in Seoul, at an affordable price. Italian pizza will be always be the authentic one to me, so why not trying it in Seoul? It’s not that difficult to find good Italian pizza in Seoul, but as a student myself, sometimes I’m not willing to spend 20,000 won for a margherita…
With this article I will give you three options that won’t make your wallet cry but will definitely satisfty you appetite!
So, let’s start with 3 AFFORDABLE Italian Pizzas in Seoul!
After living in Korea for 2 years I can easily say this is the best pizza place in Seoul, and it’s also located in Hongdae, the heart of night-life in Seoul. This place opened in December 2019 and serves authentic Neapolitan-style pizza at the best price you can ever find in Seoul! Margherita is sold for only 10,000 won, which is absolutely a competitive price for such a high-quality product. I have been here 4 times already and I liked all pizzas I have tried. I also like the fact they have an open space in the middle of the restaurant so you can directly see how pizza is made. The interior is very simple, so don’t expect a fancy restaurant when you go there, but I still think it’s really worth it to try. They also serve a dessert made with pizza dough and chocolate which is really delicious.

I was recommended to visit this place by some Italian friends who went there before me and it turned out to be a very pleasant discovery. Compared to other pizza places I’m recommending in this post, this one is not located in one of the most visited areas of Seoul, but I could see it’s pretty popular in this neighborhood. It’s located in Sillim-dong, quite close to Seoul National University, so if you are a SNU student like me, or you just happen to be here, you will be happy to hear you can try authentic Italian pizza in the area.
I’ve been in Napoline quite a few times and not all their options look completely Italian, however, I can guarantee their Margherita and their Gorgonzola pizzas taste amazing and really authentic. I could also notice, from a poster attached to their wall, the quality of their ingredients which mostly come from Italy, reasons why the taste was very authentic for me. The price is also very convenient since Gorgonzola pizza costs 9,900 won and Margherita comes at the price of 12,900 won. They also serve very convenient set menus, which is definitely a plus.

Spontini is actually a franchise from Milan, which serves soft, thick slices of pizza. They now have three branches in Seoul: Gangnam, Sinchon, and Apgujeong. Every slice cost less than 10,000 won and they have a big variety, for any tastes. Spontini is definitely different from Neapolitan-style pizza, but it is still something worth trying, their ingredients are good and authentic and I also found the interior extremely pleasant, with a predominantly red color. Once inside the restaurant, you can easily order using the machine, which is very convenient for people who are not familiar or feel shy to order in Korean.
One slice of pizza might not sound enough for a meal, but I can tell you Spontini serves a big portion and their pizza is quite thick, so don’t be afraid to not feel full. However, when I visited the Gangnam branch with my boyfriend, we decide to share 3 slices and it was a better option for us, so you might consider doing the same. The only negative point about Spontini I feel like pointing out is about water, which doesn’t come for free. In Korea water is always included in your meal, while Spontini follows more the Italian style, and serves water bottles, which of course are not for free. Plus, Spontini imported Italian water brands (Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino) so, ironically, they cost more than getting a coke or a soda.
